お散歩
週末は20℃越えのポカポカ陽気でした
真栄田岬まで家族でお散歩
海も穏やかで、すぐにでも飛び込みたい気分でした。
冬になると真栄田岬沖でも見られるクジラ。未だ遭遇した事はありませんが…でもいつもこの展望台から「クジラいないかなぁ〜」と遠くを眺めます
散歩でお腹をすかした後は、岬内の『真栄田そば』でランチタイム
真栄田部落内のお友達がつくる沖縄そばやタコライス、カレーなどなど…どれもこれも絶品です。
テイクアウトもできるので、ビーチで食べるのもおすすめ
ルカイも「めっちゃ美味しい〜
」とほとんど一人でたいらげました
１時間ほどのお散歩時間でリフレッシュ
曇りや雨の日が多いここ最近の沖縄、次に太陽が出る日が待ち遠しい〜。
What a wonderful day for Joy's first walk to Maeda Misaki! The sky was blue and the sun was warm...You could feel that summer is just around the corner...I have done this walk so many times, but each one is different, and on this day it was like taking the walk for the first time, experiencing the feeling of nature with our new baby daughter!

旧正月
先日の旧正月。
のぼるおじさんの家でウートートー
みさこおばさんが作るごちそうはどれも美味しい
のぼるおじさんとケニーの三線に合わせてルカイは久しぶりにエイサー
JOYも興味津々にルカイの動きを目で追っていました。
今年も良い１年を過ごせますように…
It was time once again to celebrate the New Year for a second time...This one was the more traditional "lunar New Year." Each year I look forward to this get together...praying, eating, drinking, and listening to the joyous sounds of my uncle's sanshin....

料理
畑のほうれんそう。
間引きしてもわんさか生えてます
食べたかったキッシュを作りました。
小さい頃から料理が好きなルカイはいつもお手伝いをしてくれます。
近頃はお腹がすくと自分でスクランブルエッグを作って食べています
ベーグルやミートボールも上手に作ります。
子どもは興味を示した時に挑戦させるとグングン上達するので、うちでは包丁やハサミなども私たちが普段使用するものを使わせています。
見ているコチラは内心ドキドキハラハラですが、意外と上手に使えるもので今では野菜のカットはルカイが担当してくれます。
料理が好きで食べる事が好きになってくれるのは何とも嬉しいものです
Cooking is a part of life that offers not just a chance to make food, but for families to join together. The other day, Rukai and I used the spinach we picked at our farm to make a quiche. Rukai loves to help and he also does a pretty good job at cooking himself! These opportunities to do things together are the special ingredients that makes food taste so delicious! It is the love that does into every dish...

ゲストハウスで使用している、コートハンガーやナイトテーブルを作って頂いた、読谷にお店を構えるindigoさん作のtoy box
山のようなオモチャを収納でき、且つ友人やファミリーがたくさん集まった時に座る事もできるベンチ機能も兼ね備え、さらにふたを開け閉めする際、子どもが手を挟まないようふたがバタンと閉まらないように…とのわがままリクエストを見事に叶えてくださいました
『長くつかっていただけるように…』といつも丁寧に、細部にまでこだわって心を込めて制作して下さるので本当にありがたく、もっともっとイロイロお願いしたいなぁと思います

Rukai's toy box is here! We had it order-made at "Indigo," a local store that specializes in handmade wood furniture. The owner, Ryo Higa, is a master craftsman and his attention to detail is amazing. We also had him make some furniture for our guesthouse a few years back...Thanks Ryo for filling our home with the warmth of wood "made in Okinawa!"

癒されます
日に日に変わるJoyの顔や表情。赤ちゃんはホント百面相
あごの下や太ももにどんどんお肉がついて、丸々してきています
片手でヒョイと抱っこが出来るのも今のうちだけ…嬉しいような寂しいような…
ずっと見ていても飽きない、赤ん坊Joyと優しいルカイに癒されます
Watching the expressions on Joy's face is wonderful. I always try to imagine what she is thinking...Does she feel content? Is she wondering where she is? Is she trying to say something? She is so tiny and precious, yet she changes little by little each day. Then I look at her again and she reminds me of Rukai when he was a baby...Time flies by too fast!

お正月は…
あけましておめでとうございます
元旦は隣の金城さん宅でもちつきをしました。
子どもたちがたくさん集まっていたので、とっても賑やか
ルカイにとっては初めての経験、ケニーも楽しんでいました。
つきたてのおもちの美味しい事
真栄田部落の新年会にも参加。
子どもからお年寄りまでが集まって新年を祝います。真栄田には地元の行事がいろいろあり、地域の人たちとの交流ができるので参加する事が毎回楽しみです
ジョイが産まれて１ヶ月。
４人での生活リズムにも慣れて来て、ルカイもいっぱいお手伝いをしてくれるのでありがたく思う毎日です
今年も宜しくおねがいいたします。
Happy New Year! My neighbor called us over to celebrate the new year by doing making "mochi" the traditional way....Rukai even gave it a try! We also participated in the Maeda "shinenkai" with the community and enjoyed food, drink, and plenty of Ryukyu dance entertainment...It is really nice how the residents come together during these times and celebrate the good things in life...Rukai was having lots of fun sitting with his friends from the Maeda "kodomo-kai," while his dad sat with the other dads and drank beer! We are lucky to be living here!
